To raise public awareness and prevent social degradation, Mohanganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizul Islam Harun held an open discussion with congregants at the municipal Markus Mosque before Friday prayers.
Addressing an audience of approximately 300 people, including the mosque committee's president and general secretary, the OC spoke on several pressing local issues. His community address covered the dangers of drugs, gambling, eve-teasing, teen gangs, and child marriage.
He also urged locals to resolve land disputes amicably, respect all religious beliefs, prioritize suicide prevention, and maintain peace during local Urs and Mazar Sharif gatherings.
OC Harun has previously conducted similar awareness sessions at other local Islamic centers, including the Model Mosque and the Municipal Cemetery Mosque. He noted that these direct community dialogues have been highly effective, leading to a noticeable decrease in local crime rates.
