Four Bangladeshi nationals were injured in a drone attack at Kuwait International Airport on Saturday night. The injured are Aminul Islam, Rakibul Islam, Masudur Rahman and Dulal Mia.
Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, confirmed the information to the media. He said the four expatriates were hurt by debris scattered during the attack.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait has urged Bangladeshi nationals to remain cautious amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region. The embassy advised expatriates to stay away from military installations and remain indoors or in safe locations unless travel is absolutely necessary.
The attack follows heightened regional tensions after the United States and Israel reportedly launched missile strikes on Iran early Saturday following the collapse of talks over Tehran’s nuclear programme. Iran has since launched retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and several US-linked military facilities across the Middle East.
As part of the escalation, missiles and drones were reportedly directed toward multiple countries in the region, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Saturday night’s drone strike damaged Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport and injured several workers.
Authorities are monitoring the situation. Further details on the condition of the injured Bangladeshis were not immediately available.
