Powerful explosions tore through an industrial park near Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, on Friday, November 14, 2025, sparking a huge blaze that injured more than 20 people.
The incident occurred in an industrial area, reported as the Spegazzini Industrial Park in Ezeiza, located south of Buenos Aires and close to the country's main international airport. Hospital director Carlos Santoro confirmed that his facility received 22 injured patients. While most injuries were reported as minor, those admitted included a patient with a heart attack and a pregnant woman suffering from respiratory issues.
The blasts triggered a massive fire, sending thick columns of black and orange smoke hundreds of meters into the night sky. The explosions were so strong that they shattered windows in nearby homes, prompting the evacuation of families in the area.
Local media reported that up to five different factories were hit by the explosions and the ensuing fire, including plants manufacturing chemical products, tires, and plastics. The fire was described as "complex" by the Civil Defense director for Buenos Aires province, who warned it would be a "long fire." Firefighters were still battling to bring the massive blaze under control early the following morning.
The cause of the powerful explosions remains officially unknown, with authorities launching a preliminary investigation.
