With the 13th national parliamentary election just days away, thousands gathered in Gazipur on Sunday to support Maulana Ehsanul Haque, the 11-Party Unity Alliance candidate for Gazipur-3.
Speaking to a massive crowd at the Sreepur Municipal Open Stage, Allama Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, framed the Feb. 12 vote as a moral crossroads for the nation.
"This election is more than a contest for power; it is a mandate against corruption, terrorism, and the laundering of national wealth abroad," Mamunul Haque told supporters. "We must unite to establish a state built on justice and the rule of law."
Local leaders from the alliance, which includes the National Citizen Party and Jamaat-e-Islami, echoed these sentiments. Dr. Jahangir Alam, Gazipur District Ameer for Jamaat-e-Islami, described the upcoming polls as a tribute to the "martyrs" of the July 2024 mass uprising. He urged voters to reject foreign hegemony and protect the sovereignty of Bangladesh.
Maulana Ehsanul Haque, campaigning under the "Rickshaw" symbol, pledged to transform Gazipur-3 into a developed constituency by prioritizing job creation and social justice.
The rally marks one of the final major campaign events before the Feb. 10 deadline for public demonstrations.
