Public relief has returned to Muksudpur upazila following the appointment of a new Assistant Commissioner (Land), ending months of service disruption caused by a vacant post. Md. Abirul Islam, a 40th BCS (Administration) cadre officer, officially took charge as the new AC Land on Monday.
According to an official order from the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Islam was transferred to Muksudpur from Patuakhali’s Dumki upazila, where he served in the same capacity. He reported to the Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office on May 17 before formally assuming his responsibilities at the Muksudpur Upazila Land Office on May 18.
The prolonged absence of a permanent AC Land in Muksudpur had severely crippled essential land-related services. Local residents faced immense suffering, with critical applications—including land mutations, record corrections, land development tax processing, and khas land management—remaining pending for months.
Local residents and civil society members expressed optimism that the new officer's administrative experience will expedite the backlog of files. They urged the new administration to ensure transparent, prompt, and harassment-free services for the general public.
