


A Bangladeshi migrant worker from Faridpur has died following an explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
The victim identified as Deepali Akhtar succumbed to injuries sustained during a bomb attack in the Hamra area on the evening of April 8.
Deepali, daughter of Mofazzal Sheikh from Charbhadrasan Upazila, had moved to Lebanon in 2024 to work as a domestic help. Reports indicate that the house where she was employed was hit by an explosion which also claimed the lives of six members of her employer's family.
Deepali was rushed to a local hospital but died while undergoing treatment. Her sister Laiju Begum, confirmed that the body is currently being held at the Rafiq Hariri Hospital morgue in Beirut. The family has contacted the Bangladesh Embassy with the help of the expatriate community to begin the repatriation process.
Charbhadrasan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Suraiya Momtaz expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family. "We have been informed of the tragedy and will provide all necessary assistance to bring the body of our remittance fighter back to Bangladesh," she stated.
