


Residents of Charkarfa village in Lohagara upazila caught two suspected thieves on Thursday in connection with the theft of an irrigation (shallow) machine. Based on their confession the stolen machine was recovered from underwater.
The victim Munshi Safayet, reported that his machine went missing from his field on the night of April 7. After a local search Safayet and other residents detained Nayan Molya (20) and Fahim Sheikh (19) on suspicion of involvement.
During questioning the duo admitted to the theft and revealed that they, along with an accomplice named Rubel Sikder had submerged the machine near the Wapda embankment to hide it. The machine valued at approximately Tk 20,000 was subsequently retrieved in the presence of local elders.
Upon being informed Lohagara police arrived at the scene took the suspects into custody and seized the recovered machine. The victim filed a formal case later that night.
Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Roy confirmed the arrests and stated that operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect.
