


A government primary school teacher, Ajit Kumar Mondal, from Phulbari, Dinajpur, was allegedly physically assaulted by a village policeman, Manjurul Islam, while attempting to obtain his late uncle's death certificate at the Aladipur Union Parishad office.
The incident occurred after Ajit arrived at the office on October 19th. Despite a recommendation from the concerned UP member, the village policeman, Manjurul Islam, reportedly refused to sign the necessary document and created obstacles.
The school teacher Mr.Ajit stated that, after he informed the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) about the obstruction, Manjurul Islam allegedly physically humiliated, slapped, and beat him before throwing him out of the office. The victim also complained that the Union Chairman, Shakir Bablu, failed to intervene or listen to his verbal complaint.
Ajit Kumar Mondal filed a written complaint with the Upazila Executive Officer on Monday afternoon. The Upazila Teachers' Association General Secretary, Abdul Alim, strongly condemned the incident and demanded a fair investigation.
Both the accused village policeman, Manjurul Islam, and the Union Chairman, Shakir Bablu, have been unavailable for comment since the incident, with their phones switched off. Upazila Executive Officer Ishaq Ali has assured that the matter will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken.
