Of these, 21 have been arrested and 18 are still absconding. Out of the 18 absconding accused, 16 accused have returned to the court after being issued hulia and croki warrants. The court has reserved the order to issue the Hulia and Kroki warrants for the remaining 2 accused as they did not return to the court after the Hulia and Kroki warrants were issued.

In this incident, his father Jamal Uddin filed a murder case with the city's Kotwali Police Station, naming 31 people. On June 1, 2025, the investigation officer of the case, the then Assistant Police Commissioner of Kotwali Zone of CMP, Mahfuzur Rahman, submitted a chargesheet to the relevant branch of the chattogram Court in the Alif murder case. The chargesheet was filed in the court with 38 people, including Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.
On August 25, the court accepted the chargesheet against 39 people, including Sukanta Dutta, after hearing the admissibility of the chargesheet submitted by the investigation officer of the case in the court of the then chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin Mahmud. Although a case report was filed against 31 people, the investigation officer requested that Gagan Das, Vishal Das and Rajkapur Methar, who were named in the case, be exempted from the case as they were not found to be involved.
However, when 10 more people, including Chinmoy Krishna Das, were newly found to be involved, a charge sheet was filed against a total of 39 people, including them.
