International Disaster Reduction Day celebrated in Niamatpur

With the theme "Disaster Risk Reduction is Everyone's Business", the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 was observed in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon on Monday, October 13.

To mark the occasion, a colorful rally was brought out from the Upazila Parishad premises at 10 AM, which paraded through the main roads of the town and ended in front of the permanent stage at the Upazila Parishad, where a discussion meeting was held.

The meeting was conducted by Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Enamul Haque, and chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosammat Murshida Khatun.

Speakers at the event included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rezaul Karim, Agriculture Officer Rafiqul Islam, and Livestock Officer Abdul Latif. Also present were Upazila Engineer Zahidul Islam, Cooperative Officer Rezaul Karim, Social Services Officer Sadikur Rahman, Fire Station Officer Shahadat Hossain, as well as representatives from various government departments, civil society members, teachers, students, and guardians.

Following the discussion, students and guardians participated in a practical demonstration on fire safety and extinguishing techniques, conducted under the supervision of the Fire Service Department.
