A public hearing conducted by the National Freedom Fighters Council (JAMUKA) took place in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj.

The hearing involved 52 freedom fighters and was held at the Sonargaon Upazila Parishad from Sunday morning (November 23) until noon. Freedom fighter Altaf Hossain lodged a complaint with JAMUKA, alleging that 109 individuals were falsely claiming to be freedom fighters. This public hearing was organized in response to that complaint on behalf of the National Freedom Fighters Council.

In attendance were JAMUKA Director General Shahina Khatun, along with members Major (retd) Syed Muhibur Rahman, Habibullah Alam, Major (retd) Fazlur Rahman, Sadeq Ahmed Khan, Major (retd) Abdus Salam, and Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Rahman. Following the public hearing, leaders from Jamuka held a press briefing with journalists in the Upazila Parishad meeting room at 3:30 pm.

During the press briefing, Major (Retd.) Syed Muhibur Rahman, a member of the National Freedom Fighters Council, stated that notices were issued to 109 complainants and accused individuals to attend the hearing, following the complaint made by freedom fighter Altaf Hossain. Out of those, 52 freedom fighters participated in the public hearing. Since the others did not show up, they will receive a new notice and be summoned for their hearing.

In response to questions from journalists, he mentioned that a preliminary investigation into the complaint will be conducted and presented at the Jamuka general meeting, where a final decision will be made regarding the matters at hand.

He also indicated that inquiries have been made concerning the complainant. Should the complaint be found to be unsubstantiated, appropriate action will be taken against him. Furthermore, if any accused individual is unjustly defamed, they may seek justice through legal means.
