Two NESCO Employees Electrocuted in Rajshahi; One in Critical Condition

Two employees of NESCO (Ghabangpar) sustained injuries after being electrocuted while working on a transmission line on an electric pole in Rajshahi. The incident took place around 11 am on Wednesday, November 12, at the Aduburi intersection near the Kashiadanga police station.

Medical professionals reported that one of the injured individuals is in critical condition.

According to local residents, a NESCO crew was addressing a fault in the transmitter line on an electric pole that morning. During the process, one employee suffered a severe electric shock and fell, while the other remained suspended on the pole. Colleagues and nearby locals promptly rescued both individuals and transported them to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital.

Dr. Sankar K Biswas, the Medical Officer in charge of the emergency department at RMC Hospital, stated that the medical team is currently administering primary treatment. The condition of one of the injured employees is serious, and he is being closely monitored.

Abu Hayat Md. Rahmatullah, NESCO's Executive Director for Administration and Human Resource Development, commented, "Upon receiving news of the incident, we took immediate action to ensure they received medical care at the hospital. Following the doctor's advice, arrangements are being made to transfer one of the critically injured individuals to Dhaka, while the other is receiving treatment in the ICU. An investigation team has been established to look into the incident."

He added, "The power supply in the area was temporarily interrupted due to the accident. Preliminary assessments suggest that the incident occurred because work commenced without deactivating the power to the line.
