


Cultural Affairs Minister Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury has announced that the July Memorial Museum will open to the public very soon. Speaking to journalists on Friday morning during a visit to the historic Shalban Vihara and Mainamati Museum in Cumilla's Kotbari, the minister stated that all necessary preparations have been completed and a new management committee has been formed.
He noted that the museum’s committee faced organizational challenges during the tenure of the interim government, but a restructured committee is now in place following parliamentary approval. A formal press conference will be held shortly to share the exact inauguration date and further details.Sharply criticizing the previous Awami League administration, Minister Chowdhury alleged that the regime severely damaged the nation’s cultural heritage and institutions. He asserted that sectors ranging from education and culture to the judiciary and financial systems suffered immense setbacks over the last two decades due to a disregard for public opinion, compromised elections, and widespread financial corruption.
He reaffirmed the current government’s commitment to restoring the country's lost heritage and preserving its cultural assets. Local lawmakers and administrative officials, including Cumilla-6 MP Bir Muktijoddha Md. Monirul Haque Chowdhury, Department of Archaeology Director General Sabina Alam, and Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Rozi Akhter, were present during the visit along with political leaders and local activists.
