Following a brief hiatus from international fixtures, the Bangladesh national cricket team is back in action, currently hosting Pakistan for a three-match ODI series at home. While the "Tigers" compete on the field, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul remains in Melbourne, Australia.
The BCB chief, who left for Australia on February 16 to spend time with his family, is expected to return to Dhaka on March 26. His stay abroad was extended to allow him to attend an upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.
Bulbul's departure initially sparked social media speculation that he had left the country abruptly. However, he dismissed these rumors by appearing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium the morning after the reports surfaced, clarifying that his travel was part of a pre-arranged family visit.
On the domestic front, the BCB continues to face pressure from several Dhaka-based clubs. These organizers have alleged irregularities and "voter rigging" in the previous board elections. Some clubs have even boycotted domestic cricket activities to protest the current committee’s leadership.
The situation has gained government attention following the appointment of former national football captain Aminul Haque as the State Minister for Youth and Sports. Responding to formal complaints regarding abuse of power and election misconduct within the BCB, the National Sports Council (NSC) has launched a formal inquiry.
A five-member investigation committee has been tasked with reviewing the allegations and is required to submit a comprehensive report within 15 working days.
