A legal notice has been served to the Parliament Secretariat and the Law Secretary seeking the removal of President Md. Shahabuddin and the appointment of a new head of state.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Shahriar sent the notice on Thursday (February 26, 2026), alleging that the President’s recent statements regarding the "July Revolution" constitute a violation of his constitutional oath. The notice claims the President has shown "disrespect" toward the spirit of the July uprising, rendering him unfit for office.

The petitioner demanded immediate steps to appoint a new President to inaugurate the first session of the 13th Parliament. The notice warns that if no action is taken within 24 hours, further legal proceedings will be initiated in the higher courts.
