


Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced a strict policy of zero concession for criminals involved in acts of violence, such as setting fire to buses or exploding crude bombs, while assuring the public there is "nothing to fear."
The key updates and directives following the Council of Advisers on Law and Order meeting include. The Adviser stressed that "Criminals will not be spared" and directed authorities to ensure that real criminals do not receive bail. He urged all groups, including political parties, media, and the public, to resist and assist law enforcement in capturing those who commit arson.
Numerous measures have been taken, including intensified patrolling and enhanced security at Key Point Installations (KPIs). To prevent misuse in arson, roadside sales of transport fuel will be suspended for a few days.
Jahangir dismissed claims of intelligence failure, stating, "There is no intelligence failure," and noted that "No big procession has been held." He also confirmed that perpetrators of a recent daylight killing will be brought to justice, with arrests already made in a similar incident in Chittagong.
Law enforcement has been instructed to intensify the crackdown to recover looted police firearms. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been directed to check cross-border entry to contain criminal activities.
The government is satisfied with the election preparedness. Electoral training for law enforcement is nearly complete.
Approximately 8 lakh (800,000) personnel will be deployed nationwide for election security, including, 1.50 lakh Police personnel, 5.50 lakh Ansar members and 1 lakh Army personnel.
