The Global Press Peace Summit 2026, a high-level international gathering dedicated to advancing peaceful conflict resolution and strengthening global protection for journalists and humanitarian workers, will take place in Kenya later this year.
Officially titled "The Nairobi International Summit on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts: Protecting Journalists and Strengthening Humanitarian Support Systems," the three-day event is scheduled for November 25–27, 2026, at the University of Nairobi (UON).
An international planning meeting via Zoom was held last night to discuss summit preparations. SAARC Journalists Forum President Raju Lama and Secretary General Md. Abdur Rahman participated in the session.
Organized by Infonile Communications Ltd in partnership with the University of Nairobi and the Ecopark Global Initiative, the summit will convene journalists, media organizations, government officials, diplomatic missions, humanitarian agencies, policymakers, tech leaders, security experts, and civil society representatives worldwide. The event aims to establish a lasting global platform that safeguards frontline truth-tellers and reinforces independent journalism's role in driving peace and accountability.
Under the theme "Silencing the Guns, Amplifying the Truth: Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts in the Face of Threats to Journalists and Humanitarians," the summit directly addresses the rising dangers facing media professionals and aid workers in crisis zones.
Through evidence-based discussions, safety workshops, policy dialogues, survivor testimonies, technology exhibitions, and diplomatic cooperation, delegates will focus on practical solutions to enhance safety, combat impunity, and uphold international law. The event will culminate in the adoption of the historic Nairobi Declaration on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts a global advocacy framework to be formally submitted to the United Nations to lobby for stronger legal protections.
Key outputs of the summit will also include: Baseline Survey Report: A comprehensive mapping of current threats and systemic challenges facing frontline workers in crisis regions. Compilation of Proceedings: A published repository featuring actionable recommendations, strategic roadmaps, and best practices derived from the sessions.
