Bangladesh Receives $1.8 Billion in Remittances During First 18 Days of July

Bangladesh received $1.798 billion in remittances during the first 18 days of July, marking a 20.2% increase compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

Based on an exchange rate of Tk 123 per U.S. dollar, the inflow amounts to approximately Tk 221.38 billion (about Tk 22,137.7 crore).

Bangladesh Bank data released on Sunday (July 19) showed that expatriate Bangladeshis sent $1.798 billion between July 1 and July 18. During the same period in the previous fiscal year, remittance inflows totaled $1.496 billion.

The central bank also reported that $161 million was remitted between July 16 and July 18 alone. Earlier in the month, remittances reached $567 million during the first five days.

Overall, remittance inflows increased by $302 million year-on-year during the first 18 days of the fiscal year, reflecting a 20.2% growth.

Bangladesh recorded a historic $30.32 billion in remittance inflows during the 2024–25 fiscal year, the highest annual total ever received by the country.
