ADB Warns Bangladesh of Fake Online Loan Scams

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has issued a public alert warning Bangladeshis about fraudulent loan schemes. Scammers are illegally using the ADB’s name and logo across fake websites and social media platforms to trick individuals into paying upfront fees for non-existent loans.

The Manila-based institution clarified that it does not offer loans, grants, or direct financial assistance to individuals. Furthermore, the ADB never asks the public for personal financial information or requests payments via mobile financial services.

"Any person claiming to represent ADB and offering loans or financial assistance directly to individuals is acting fraudulently," the bank stated. The ADB emphasized that it finances national development projects by partnering with the government and private sector organizations through official, transparent channels.

Amid rising online financial fraud in Bangladesh, the ADB urges citizens to ignore unsolicited messages offering loans. Anyone targeted by these scams should report the incidents to the relevant authorities immediately. To verify suspicious offers, the public is encouraged to check the official scam advisories on the ADB website before responding.
