Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) seized 100 kg of marijuana, valued at approximately Tk 3 million, during an anti-narcotics drive in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, an operational team from the Faridpur camp intercepted a covered van under the Maligram flyover on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway around 3:00 pm. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, two suspected drug traffickers abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

According to a RAB press release issued on Monday, a subsequent search of the van led to the recovery of the contraband. Initial investigations indicate the fleeing suspects are professional traffickers who routinely smuggle narcotics from border regions for distribution across Faridpur and other parts of the country.

The seized drugs and the covered van have been handed over to the local police station. Authorities are currently processing a case under the Narcotics Control Act.

RAB reiterated its commitment to the government's "zero tolerance" policy against narcotics, confirming that regular operations targeting drugs, illegal weapons, and organized crime will continue.
