The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) has arrested a suspected drug smuggler in Faridpur Sadar Upazila, seizing a private car and 880 bottles of Scuff syrup valued at approximately Tk 2.64 million.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from RAB-10 (CPC-3, Faridpur Camp) set up a temporary checkpost at the Rajbari Road intersection on the Faridpur-Rajbari highway at approximately 2:20 am on Saturday (June 27). During the operation, they intercepted a Dhaka-bound private car traveling from Satkhira and recovered the illicit drugs.
The arrestee has been identified as Md. Rana Gazi, 32, son of Rahim Gazi from Sakhipur village in Satkhira's Debhata upazila.
During initial interrogations, Rana admitted to operating a long-running smuggling network. He reportedly collected Scuff syrup and other narcotics from border areas to distribute across the country, including Faridpur. RAB confirmed he is already facing a separate criminal case at Debhata Police Station in Satkhira.
RAB authorities stated that a new case is being filed against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act, after which he will be handed over to the local police station.
Reiterating that illegal drugs pose a critical threat to the nation's youth, RAB assured the public that its zero-tolerance operations against narcotics, illegal weapons, and extortion will continue.
