ISDE Bangladesh has rolled out a phased food distribution program to support 5,000 flood-affected families across Chakaria, Pekua, and Matamuhuri upazilas in Cox's Bazar. Funded by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), the initiative aims to address the immediate food crisis following recent devastating floods.

On Sunday, during the program's second phase, 1,000 families in Chakaria's Phansiakhali and Kaiarbil unions received relief. This follows an initial phase that supported 1,000 families in Chakaria Municipality. The remaining 3,000 families will receive supplies in upcoming phases.

To ensure nutritional support, each family receives a standardized food package containing 10 kg of rice, 7 kg of lentils, 3 liters of soybean oil, 1 kg of sugar, and 1 kg of salt.

Local officials and ISDE representatives, including Project Coordinator Md. Jahangir Alam, oversaw the distribution. "It is our humanitarian responsibility to stand by the flood-affected people," Alam stated, confirming that all 5,000 targeted families will receive their packages shortly.

Local representatives noted that the floods have stripped many residents of their homes and livelihoods. Beneficiaries expressed immense relief, emphasizing that the timely food aid has significantly reduced their daily survival worries.

Prior to this initiative, ISDE Bangladesh had distributed food aid to approximately 56,000 people, including vulnerable host communities and residents of the Rohingya refugee camps, continuing its mission to ensure food security during severe disasters.
