The government has withdrawn all rationing on the sale of petrol, octane, and diesel to ensure smooth travel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. Starting Sunday (March 15), fuel distribution has returned to normal across the country.
State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit announced the decision during a press briefing at the Secretariat. He cited three primary reasons for lifting the restrictions:
Arrival of Fuel Tankers: Several imported oil ships have recently docked at Chattogram port, stabilizing reserves.
Eid Travel: Demand is expected to surge as millions travel home for the holidays.
Boro Season: Ensuring farmers have adequate diesel for irrigation during the peak Boro cultivation season.
"Fuel distribution will continue from all points according to demand until further orders," the State Minister confirmed.
Addressing concerns over price hikes, he stated that the government intends to keep fuel prices unchanged as long as the economy can absorb the global market pressure. The government had initially introduced the rationing system on March 6 to manage supply amidst global volatility and panic buying.
