


The Chapainawabganj Journalists Forum-Dhaka (CJFD), an organisation representing journalists from Chapainawabganj working in national media outlets in the capital, has elected a new executive committee for the 2026–2028 term.
At the forum's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and biennial election held in Dhaka on Wednesday, Md Ferdous Mobarak, Chief News Editor of Daily Times of Bangladesh, was elected President, while Ziaul Haque Sabuj, Business Editor of Banglavision, was elected General Secretary.
Ashraful Islam, Acting News Editor of Daily Amader Shomoy, was elected Vice-President.
The AGM and election were held at a restaurant in the capital, where members representing various national print, television and online media organisations cast their votes to elect the new leadership.
The meeting was presided over by outgoing President Abdullah Al Mamun, City Editor of Dainik Khoborer Kagoj, while the election was conducted by the forum's founding President Anwar Haque, Editor of Life TV.
The event was addressed by the forum's founding General Secretary, Muhammad Khadimul Islam, currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University, USA.
The newly elected committee also includes Mesbahul Haque, Senior Reporter at Samakal, as Joint General Secretary; Meem Obaidullah, Country Editor (Online) of Bhorer Kagoj, as Organising Secretary; Mohammad Ali, Staff Reporter at Khoborer Kagoj, as Treasurer; Taskina Yasmin, Senior Reporter at Bangladesh Kantha, as Office Secretary; and Shahanat Hossain Masum, Editor of Muhurto News, as Publication and Research Secretary.
The seven Executive Members are Anwar Haque, Abdullah Al Mamun, Faizul Islam, Assistant Editor of The Daily Ittefaq; Jahangir Alam, Senior Reporter at Khoborer Kagoj; Md Al Amin, Senior Reporter at Manabzamin; Md Mamunur Rashid, Editor of Nakshi.TV; and Syed Rashidul Hasan, Reporter at Ekattor Television.
Speaking at the programme, both the outgoing and newly elected leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening the organisation's activities and enhancing professional solidarity among journalists from Chapainawabganj.
They also pledged to work collectively for the professional welfare of members and to highlight the district's development priorities and public interests at the national level.
Established on 18 June 2014, the Chapainawabganj Journalists Forum-Dhaka aims to promote the professional development of journalists from the district working in Dhaka and to advocate for Chapainawabganj's interests through the national media
