National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Sarjis Alam declared that the Awami League has been politically "buried in Delhi" urging citizens to unite behind a new pro-Bangladesh political force.
Speaking as the chief guest at the July Padjatra program at Pabna’s Chatmohar Baluchar ground on Thursday night, Alam outlined his vision for a corruption-free nation. He stressed that to build a new Bangladesh, the country must dismantle the culture of political brokering that forces ordinary people to rely on politicians for basic public services.
Alam heavily criticized the politicization of key sectors. He highlighted how political interference in government hospital tenders directly harms patients, and he condemned the practice of appointing unqualified individuals often tied to extortion and illegal business to the managing committees of schools and madrasas.
Addressing the broader political landscape, Alam warned all parties, including the BNP, that politicians must not manipulate local administration simply by virtue of being in power. He urged the public to vote for honest candidates to finally end the era of extortion and looting.
During his speech, Alam also firmly refuted recent allegations that the NCP had embezzled thousands of crores of taka, dismissing the claims as baseless political propaganda lacking any evidential proof.
Reflecting on former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, he condemned her administration for severe partisanship, enforced disappearances and widespread repression. He concluded by appealing to civil administration officials to prioritize the nation's sovereignty over party loyalty.
The event was also attended by NCP joint convener Sarwar Tushar, joint member secretary SM Saif Mostafiz, local leader Barkatullah Fahad and Dulal Uddin Master, father of Shaheed Zahidul Islam.
