


An outreach workshop was held in Kalia, Narail to increase public awareness about village courts and develop a joint campaign plan with local organizations. The initiative is part of the Bangladesh Village Court Activation (Phase III) project.
The upazila administration organized the event at the Kalia Upazila Parishad conference room on Monday (June 8) morning.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam chaired the session. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sraboni Biswas, Social Service Officer Rafiqul and Women Affairs Officer Keya Das also addressed the attendees. The program was moderated by Alok Kumar Pal, Upazila Coordinator for the Wave Foundation.
The workshop featured a presentation on the role of village courts, public awareness strategies, and the responsibilities of various organizations. It also included promotional videos, Q&A sessions, and group discussions. Participants shared practical recommendations to make local village courts more accessible, outlining a comprehensive outreach plan to boost awareness.
In his address, UNO Md. Jinnatul Islam highlighted the village court as a fast, simple and low-cost dispute resolution system.
"Village courts play a crucial role in bringing justice directly to the people's doorsteps," Islam said. He urged government bodies, NGOs, public representatives and the media to collaborate on raising public awareness.
Local government officials, journalists and NGO representatives attended the event.
