5-Year-Old Child Killed After Being Hit by Train in Gopalganj

A tragic train accident claimed the life of a five-year-old child, Sabhia Khanam, in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 am in Byaspur Dakshinpara village under Maheshpur Union. The deceased was the daughter of Shipon Fakir, a resident of the village.

According to family members, Sabhia had gone with her grandmother to tie a goat near the railway tracks. At one point, she accidentally stepped onto the railway line. Just then, the Tungipara Express, traveling from Gopalganj to Rajshahi, struck the child, causing her death on the spot.

The heartbreaking incident cast a pall of grief over the local community. Residents rushed to the scene after the accident, but the child had already succumbed to her injuries.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahfuzur Rahman of Kashiani Police Station said that the child died after being hit by a train while on the railway track. He added that legal procedures regarding the incident are being carried out.

The untimely death of the young girl has left her family and relatives devastated.
