Dengue mosquito larvae have been found in 60 percent of houses within the jurisdiction of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), according to DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam.
He made the statement on Friday morning (June 5) while speaking at a reunion programme in Wari, Dhaka.
Abdus Salam said dengue prevention requires greater public awareness and participation.
“Dengue larvae have been found in 60 percent of houses. Residents must ensure that water does not accumulate in courtyards, on rooftops, or in flower pots. Without public awareness, it will not be possible to protect people from dengue,” he said.
He urged residents to keep their homes and surrounding areas clean to reduce mosquito breeding.
During his remarks, Salam also said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is aware of environmental and community issues and is paying attention to matters ranging from playground development to public welfare.
Speaking about urban development, the administrator said that if elected mayor with public support, he would introduce significant changes in the city’s educational institutions and local environment.
