


The four-day Deputy Commissioners’ (DC) Conference 2026 is currently underway in the capital, focusing on grassroots development and administrative coordination. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the event on May 3 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium.
Among the 64 Deputy Commissioners attending is Mohammad Ashek Hasan Sagar, the DC of Jashore. A native of Muksudpur, Gopalganj, Sagar is representing the district in high-level discussions aimed at bridging the gap between central policy and field-level execution.
This year’s conference is navigating 498 selected proposals across 34 working sessions. These were distilled from an initial 1,729 submissions from field administrations nationwide. Notably, the healthcare sector leads the agenda with 44 specific proposals aimed at improving rural medical services.
Other key focus areas including strategies for stable electricity distribution. Maintaining law and order at the district level. Enhancing the dynamism of government operations for public welfare.
Beyond policy sessions, the Divisional and Deputy Commissioners are scheduled to meet with the President, the Speaker of the National Parliament and the Chief Justice. The itinerary also includes dedicated sessions with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to discuss administrative transparency and upcoming local governance challenges.
The conference is set to conclude today, May 6, with a final set of directives to be implemented across all 64 districts.
