Faridpur DC Visits Remote Padma Chars to Campaign Against Child Marriage and Drugs

Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Mazharul Islam led an administrative team to the remote Padma river chars on Tuesday to spearhead a public awareness campaign against child marriage and drug abuse.

Visiting Bhangi Dangi village, the DC, accompanied by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Meshkatul Jannat Rabeya and other local officials, addressed a rally of students and guardians at Motaleb Hossain High School. He urged the youth to actively resist child marriage, avoid drug and mobile phone addiction and support the rehabilitation of those already affected.

Earlier in the day, the delegation inspected the Majeda Begum Mother and Child Welfare Center. Noting operational bottlenecks, the DC assured residents he would coordinate with higher authorities in the Family Planning Department to increase manpower and restore uninterrupted medical services.

The officials also held consultations with teachers from local primary and secondary schools to provide academic guidelines. To support education in the hard-to-reach area the administration distributed educational materials, sports gear and 10 bicycles to students commuting from distant locations.

The visit concluded with the inauguration of a new girls' common room at the high school and a tree plantation drive led by the DC and UNO.
