Minister for Liberation War Affairs, Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan MP, announced that the government is moving forward with essential infrastructure projects despite a limited national treasury.
He confirmed that the promised four-lane expansion of the Bhatkura-Nalua road will commence shortly.
The Minister made these remarks on Saturday afternoon after inaugurating a 282-meter PSC girder bridge over the Jhenai (Pungli) river at Dapnajore in Basail upazila. The bridge was constructed at a cost of Tk 29.96 crore by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
"Our government took office during a difficult financial period, yet we have prioritized grassroots development," the Minister told reporters. He noted that alongside the Dapnajore bridge, foundation stones for new roads and schools in Sakhipur and the Singardak-Patharghata bridge in Basail were laid recently to spark a "development revolution" in the region.
The ceremony was attended by Tangail LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Basail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Aklima Begum, and senior local BNP leaders.
The bridge project was implemented by contractor Hamim-Saleh (JV) under the LGED’s CIBRR project.
