Chittagong Trade Fair Bans Sound Systems for SSC Exams 2026

Authorities have banned the use of loud sound systems, microphones, and music at the upcoming "Trade Fair 2026" at Chittagong’s Polo Ground to ensure a quiet environment for SSC examinees.

The Chittagong Women's Chamber of Commerce was recently granted the Polo Ground Railway Ground to host the month-long fair until May 18, 2026. However, concerns were raised regarding three nearby schools serving as centers for the 2026 SSC examinations.

Senior Income Tax Lawyer Md. Mahbubur Rahman formally petitioned the Railway authorities, citing potential noise pollution and traffic congestion that could disrupt students' concentration and movement.

In response, General Manager (East) Md. Subaktagin opted for a balanced approach. Rather than canceling the event, the authorities revised the agreement with the fair organizers. Under the new terms, all loud music, singing, and noise-generating activities are strictly prohibited. Organizers must also ensure that the fair does not obstruct the movement of candidates.

The decision, communicated officially on April 12, has been praised by local citizens. Observers noted that prioritizing student welfare while allowing the fair to proceed sets a positive precedent for balancing commercial events with public interest.
