BGB Seizes Smuggled Indian Goods Worth Tk 46 Lakh in Kurigram

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods worth about Tk 46 Lakh in Kurigram during separate operations over the last 24 hours.

The special operations team of Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) confirmed the recovery through a press release issued at 11:00 am on Friday (February 27).

According to BGB sources, the seized items include various brands of mobile phones, cattle and Indian liquor. The estimated value of the recovered goods is Tk.46 Lakh.

The battalion said the operations were conducted as part of ongoing directives from BGB headquarters to curb drug trafficking and smuggling along the border under a strict zero-tolerance policy.

BGB officials said their personnel remain fully engaged in maintaining border security, preventing smuggling, and stopping illegal infiltration. Operations are being carried out with heightened vigilance, professionalism and operational skill.

Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, PSC, said such operations will be intensified further to safeguard national borders and maintain law and order in the region.
