


Police in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat seized 128 bottles of Indian Phensedyl cough syrup during a special anti-narcotics drive in Chandrapur area and arrested a husband and wife. One other suspect remains on the run.
According to police sources, on Sunday night, Sub-Inspector Md. Mostakim and his team conducted a raid at the residence of Khabir Hossain (35), son of late Azizur Rahman of Chandrapur, and recovered the bottles of Phensedyl.
Khabir Hossain was arrested on the spot. Two others Sumaiya Akter Sumi (30), wife of Khabir, and Palash Mia (27), son of Mozu Mia were named as co-accused. Palash is currently absconding.
Police said the accused were illegally storing the Indian-made narcotic syrup for sale. Khabir Hossain was sent to jail through the court after a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Kaliganj Police Station OC Jakir Hossain said, “The anti-drug operations will continue until the area is free of narcotics.”
