Festive Spirit at Shantiganj Press Club: Annual Dinner and Honors Night Held

The Shantiganj Press Club, a prominent journalist organization in Sunamganj district, hosted its annual dinner on Tuesday night (December 23, 2025).

The event, held at the Jehin Ahmed Academy premises, served as a vibrant gathering for local media professionals to strengthen communal ties and celebrate professional milestones.

Beginning at 8 PM, the dinner quickly evolved from a formal meal into a lively social gathering. Journalists from various outlets across the upazila participated in the festivities, fostering a sense of brotherhood and cooperation within the local media fraternity.

Following the dinner, a discussion meeting was presided over by Press Club President Kazi Mohammad Jamirul Islam Momtaz and moderated by General Secretary Sohel Talukder. Key speakers, including executive members and local dignitaries, emphasized on collective vow to uphold the ethics of unbiased reporting and commitment to using journalism as a tool for the public interest and the development of Shantiganj also the strengthening the internal bond of the Press Club to better serve the community.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of special honorary mementos to two distinguished expatriates for their contributions to society and education Mr. Md. Ekhlis Khan a prominent industrialist and social worker based in Saudi Arabia and Mr. Md. Bashir Ahmed a noted educationist and social worker residing in the UK.

Following the successful event, the Shantiganj Press Club has announced plans to initiate a series of developmental workshops for young journalists in the district starting early next year. The presence of international expatriate supporters has also sparked discussions regarding a new "Journalist Welfare Fund" to support local media workers in times of crisis, a move highly praised by the attending members.
