Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman has initiated a case concerning the murder of his son, Tausif Rahman Sumon, aged 16. After completing the FIR on Friday afternoon, he departed for his village home in Jamalpur with his son's remains. Subsequently, the Rajpara Police Station documented the case.
According to Gaziur Rahman, spokesperson for the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and Additional Deputy Police Commissioner, the sole suspect in the case, Limon Mia, aged 34, has been apprehended. He is currently receiving medical care at the hospital while in police custody and will be presented in court once he has recovered.
Limon, the son of HM Solaiman Shaheed from Bhabaniganj village, Madanerpara, Fulchhari, Gaibandha, is a former soldier. After losing his job in 2018, he developed a drug addiction. Although he married a few years back, his family eventually fell apart. The judge's wife, Tasmin Nahar, had a prior relationship with Lucir, aged 44, who used to extort money from her. When the financial support ceased, he resorted to blackmail and threats. Tasmin Nahar reported this matter to Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet on November 6.
Judge Abdur Rahman began his tenure at the Rajshahi labor court a year ago and was appointed as a metropolitan sessions judge last month. He resided in the Dabtala area of the city with his wife and their only son, Tausif. On Thursday at 2:30 PM, Limon went to the residence and fatally stabbed Tausif. Tasmin Nahar sustained injuries while attempting to intervene. Limon also suffered injuries during the altercation. The building's residents transported everyone to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where Tausif was pronounced dead.
An autopsy on Rame was conducted on Friday morning. Dr. Kafil Uddin, an associate professor in the forensic department, reported that two sharp objects had penetrated Tausif's right leg and one his left leg, severing blood vessels. This resulted in severe internal bleeding, which was determined to be the cause of death. The bruises observed on his neck may indicate suffocation with a soft cloth, although this was not the primary cause of death.
Following the autopsy, Judge Abdur Rahman entered the morgue and wept upon seeing his son's body. Members of the Quantum Foundation prepared the body for burial and transported it to his village home in a refrigerated ambulance. Tausif was a ninth-grade student at Rajshahi Government Laboratory School.
