The Bangladesh national women’s football team arrived in Sydney on Friday night (February 20) to compete in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, scheduled for March 1–21. This marks the first time the "Sabinas" have qualified for the main stage of this prestigious continental tournament.
The squad, including key players Afeeda Khandaker and Rituparna Chakma, landed at Sydney Airport around 10:00 PM local time. The team has moved to Sydney’s Valentine Park, where they will undergo a self-funded six-day conditioning camp before the AFC officially takes charge of the participating teams on February 27.
According to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), all players are in good health and will begin their first training session tomorrow at 9:00 AM local time.
Bangladesh faces a challenging debut in Group A. They open their campaign against nine-time champions China on March 3 at Sydney’s Western Stadium. This will be followed by a clash with three-time winners North Korea on March 6, before traveling to Perth to face Uzbekistan on March 9 in their final group-stage fixture.
