Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) has been hit with a transfer ban by FIFA for failing to pay the outstanding wages of their Iranian footballer, Meysam Shah Makvand Zadeh, who played for the club during the 2022-23 season.
Mohammedan SC failed to meet their financial obligations towards the Iranian player. FIFA has implemented a ban on registering new players both internationally and nationally. The ban will remain in effect until the outstanding amount is paid, and for a maximum of three entire and consecutive registration periods. Club officials have indicated that the amount of unpaid wages is USD 60,000.
As the current Bangladesh Football League champions are facing a financial crisis, this ban means they cannot sign new players, including during the mid-season transfer window. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has been instructed to implement the national ban immediately.
This disciplinary action follows similar transfer bans previously imposed by FIFA on other Bangladeshi clubs, including Bashundhara Kings (three bans for five cases) and Sheikh Jamal DC (same punishment for two cases) in January, as well as the now-defunct Feni Soccer Club in 2022.
