Liverpool’s pursuit of a Champions League berth took a hit Sunday as a last-second wonder goal from Fulham’s Harrison Reed forced a 2-2 draw. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s frustrations continued with a lackluster 1-1 stalemate at Leeds United.
Liverpool appeared to have snatched a victory when Cody Gakpo scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time. However, in the 97th minute, Fulham’s Harrison Reed unleashed a 30-yard "rocket" to level the match.
The Reds had earlier fallen behind to a Harry Wilson strike before Florian Wirtz equalized. Despite stretching their unbeaten run to eight games, the result leaves Liverpool in fourth place, 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
"We aren't satisfied," Wirtz said after the match. "We needed three points today." Of Reed’s stunning equalizer, he added: "The strike—there is nothing to say. You cannot save that ball."
Manchester United missed a prime opportunity to close the gap on their rivals, settling for a point against Leeds. After falling behind to a Brenden Aaronson goal, United found an equalizer through Matheus Cunha.
Manager Ruben Amorim, whose future at Old Trafford remains a topic of intense speculation, expressed frustration with the club's structure. "I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach," Amorim said. "Every department—scouting, the sports director—needs to do their job."
Hat-Trick Hero and Mid-Table Moves Brentford: Brazilian striker Igor Thiago ended a two-month goal drought in spectacular fashion, netting a hat-trick in a 4-2 win over Everton. The victory lifts Brentford to seventh.
Tottenham: Pressure is mounting on manager Thomas Frank after Spurs conceded an 80th-minute equalizer to draw 1-1 with Sunderland, continuing their poor home form.
Newcastle: Captain Bruno Guimaraes led the Magpies to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, moving Eddie Howe’s side into the top half of the table.
