BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has claimed that a political party wants to keep women locked in their homes. He made these comments during an election campaign in Khulna on Monday (February 2) ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.

Tarique Rahman said, ‘If we form a government, our first responsibility is to rebuild the country. We have to do this with everyone, regardless of party affiliation. The country cannot be rebuilt with just one type of people. Half of the country’s 200 million population is women. No matter how many plans we make, it is not possible to move the country forward by leaving them behind. That is why Khaleda Zia provided free education up to higher secondary.’

Tarique Rahman said, ‘A political party wants to keep women locked in their homes. A leader has clearly said that they do not believe in female leadership in any way. The words he has used about working women are a disgrace to the people of this country. Women work to earn a living. 5 million women work in the garment industry. He also commented that the leader clearly disrespected women.

At the gathering, the BNP Chairman recalled the first wife of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), Khadijatul Kubra (RA), and said, "We see a political party that wants to keep women locked up in their homes. A leader of the party clearly disrespected women. Yet, our Prophet's wife Bibi Khadija was a work-oriented woman and a successful businesswoman."

The BNP Chairman also said, "It is unthinkable that a party leader who can talk to women like this, if given the opportunity, would insult and humiliate women. An example of this was seen in 1971. Lakhs of mothers and sisters were humiliated by the predecessors of this party. The country can never be safe for those who do not have self-respect for people."

Tarique Rahman, addressing the Jamaat Amir, said, "When severe condemnation and criticism started after he said this about women, they said that their IDs were hacked. Experts on this matter have clearly said that IDs cannot be hacked like this. A senior leader of a political party is lying about ID hacking before the election, even though their ID was not hacked. They are presenting false information to the people before the election to serve their own interests. They have only one identity, they are liars. They cannot be patriotic. Their sympathy is only for their own people.
