


BNP-nominated candidate for the 13th National Parliament election in the Netrokona-4 constituency, former state minister for home affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar, has intensified his election campaign by seeking votes with the party’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of rice.
Babar addressed 28 election meetings in Mohanganj upazila on Thursday and Friday as the chief guest. During his speeches, he urged voters to support him by casting their ballots for the sheaf of rice.
Referring to his 17 years of imprisonment, Babar expressed gratitude for the prayers and continued support of the people of the haor region. He said he wants to work for the overall development and welfare of the people living in haor areas.
Babar said the party comes before any individual and the country comes before any party. He pledged to work for the protection of the country’s independence, sovereignty, and the rights of its people.
He also warned that drug abuse and gambling are pushing young people towards destruction. Addressing the issue, he said law enforcement agencies alone cannot solve the problem and called for a united effort by families and society to resist these social problems.
The meetings were also addressed by Mohanganj Upazila BNP President Selim Karnayen, General Secretary Golam Ershadur Rahman, Mohanganj Municipal BNP President Jahangir Alam (VP), General Secretary Golam Rabbani Putul, and leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations.
