The National Citizen Party (NCP) has been hit by a second high-profile resignation in 48 hours as Joint Convenor Tajnuva Jabeen announced her departure from the youth-led organization.
Her exit follows reports of a finalized alliance between the NCP and Jamaat-e-Islami, a move she claims was shrouded in "distrust and a lack of confidence."
In a candid Facebook post on Sunday, Jabeen revealed that while she initially intended to wait for an official announcement, she decided to step down immediately after becoming convinced the deal was already a "done deed."
She criticized the party’s leadership for prioritizing parliamentary seats over organizational integrity, describing the strategy of building a party around a few MPs as a "strange situation."
In addition to leaving the party, Jabeen confirmed she will not contest the upcoming parliamentary election, a decision she described as painful, noting that her mother had traveled from Chattogram that very day to support her campaign. Her resignation comes just one day after Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Jara also quit the party to run as an independent.
