Advocate Ariful Haque Tayef has been officially nominated by the Gono Odhikar Parishad (People's Rights Council) to contest the Chittagong-16 (Banshkhali) constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
On Saturday morning (December 27), Tayef received his final nomination letter and signed the party undertaking at the Gono Odhikar Parishad central office in Purana Paltan, Dhaka.
The nomination was personally presented by the party’s central president, VP Nurul Haque Nur.
News of the final nomination sparked celebrations among party activists and supporters in the Banshkhali constituency. Tayef replaces Jasim Uddin, a member of the party's upper council, who had initially received the primary nomination for this seat.
Advocate Tayef is a prominent figure within the party and the legal community. He currently serves as the Member Secretary of the Chittagong South District Gono Odhikar Parishad and the Joint General Secretary of the central committee of the Lawyers' Rights Council.
He gained national recognition as a key organizer of the 2018 Quota Reform Movement and was notably praised for his active role during the July mass uprising.
The selection of a grassroots leader and activist signifies the party's strategy to field candidates with strong ties to recent social and political movements.
