Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the daughter-in-law of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and wife of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has arrived in Dhaka from London and is now physically present at Evercare Hospital, where the former Prime Minister has been receiving critical care in the CCU for over two weeks.
Zubaida Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (Dhaka) on Friday, December 5th, after flying from London. She immediately proceeded to Evercare Hospital. A BNP media official reported that she reached Khaleda Zia's bedside in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on Friday afternoon and returned to the hospital on Saturday afternoon (December 6th) at approximately 3:38 PM after briefly visiting her parents' home in Dhanmondi.
Zubaida Rahman, a physician by training, is an integral member of Khaleda Zia's medical board. While she previously participated in consultations virtually from London, her arrival allows her to attend in person and constantly monitor her mother-in-law's condition.
Zubaida's trip was specifically intended to accompany Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced medical care, expected to be at the London Bridge Hospital. The planned transfer via a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar has been delayed. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed that the air ambulance was unable to arrive on Friday due to technical issues.
The air ambulance is now expected to arrive on Saturday (December 6th), and Khaleda Zia's departure for London is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, December 7th, pending her health condition and the medical board's final approval.Khaleda Zia remains under close observation due to multiple critical complications involving her liver, kidneys, and heart.
