Law enforcement agencies have implemented heightened security measures in the capital, Dhaka, ahead of today's scheduled verdict in a corruption case. The case involves alleged irregularities in the allocation of a 10-katha plot in the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project and names 17 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and niece Tulip Siddique.

The verdict is set to be pronounced around 11:00 am by the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 in the lower court area. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed to the court area.

Police strength has been significantly reinforced, with two platoons of Public Order Management (POM) police on duty in addition to regular security. Police patrols and surveillance, along with patrols by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), have been intensified both in and around the court premises and in surrounding neighborhoods. Police have established checkpoints across various locations in the capital, conducting suspicion-based stops and checks of people and vehicles.

The intensified security measures reflect the sensitive nature of the case involving high-profile political figures. The search results indicate that three identical cases related to the Rajuk plot allocation against Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul were heard by Dhaka Special Judge Court-5, which pronounced a verdict on November 27, 2025. Sheikh Hasina was sentenced to a total of 21 years imprisonment (seven years in each of the three cases) in absentia. Joy and Putul were each sentenced to five years imprisonment in the respective cases against them.

Today's scheduled verdict (December 1, 2025) by Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 involves a separate but similar case against 17 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, and Tulip Siddique, concerning a 10-katha plot allocation in the same project. The court had set the date for the judgment on November 25.
