Police have intercepted and blocked a protest march organized by the platform "July Oikya," which was heading towards the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

The procession, which began at the Rampura Bridge, was stopped by police in front of Hossain Market in North Badda. Badda Zone Assistant Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the blockade and stated that the group was permitted to deliver a speech at the location, noting the deployment of "sufficient police personnel" in the area.

The July Oikya, a platform associated with the July Uprising, organized the protest to press for political demands, including objecting to perceived Indian influence in Bangladesh and demanding the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her associates reportedly sheltering in India.

In response to the security situation, the Indian High Commission temporarily closed its visa application center (IVAC) at Jamuna Future Park, Dhaka, from 2 PM on Wednesday for "security reasons." Appointments scheduled for the day will be rescheduled.
