Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Bangladesh Army’s summer training exercise in Babuganj, Barishal, on Monday. Arriving in East Rahmatpur at 11:30 am, he toured the extensive jungle training site on foot to observe combat drills and assess the military's operational preparedness.
During the visit, the Prime Minister watched tactical maneuvers in dense forest conditions and a demonstration of an anti-drone defense system designed to detect and neutralize hostile threats. Emphasizing the importance of modern technology, he assured the armed forces that the government would provide all necessary support to enhance their capabilities, modernization, and global reputation.
Highlighting his deep personal connection to the military, Rahman—who noted he grew up in an army family—spent time interacting directly with the troops. He sat on the ground with soldiers to discuss their field experiences and shared a field meal of rice, lentils, and egg curry cooked over a makeshift flame.
In his address to the soldiers, the Prime Minister praised the Bangladesh Army as a symbol of the country's independence and sovereignty. He commended their professionalism, sacrifice, and critical role in safeguarding national security and responding to national crises. He urged the troops to maintain high standards of professional training and ensure peak operational readiness to preserve the public's trust.
Key officials, including Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon and Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, were also present at the exercise.
