


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday sought the support of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to find a lasting solution to the Rohingya crisis.
The Prime Minister made the call during a meeting with Dhaka-based ambassadors and high commissioners of OIC nations at his Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony briefed reporters following the courtesy call.
During the meeting, the envoys congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming office and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. Key areas of focus included investment, trade, education, healthcare, textiles, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Tarique Rahman expressed his gratitude for the OIC’s continued support of the government and people of Bangladesh. He recalled the historic, brotherly relations established with OIC nations during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and expressed optimism for deepening these ties in the coming years.
Diplomatic representatives from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Palestine, Algeria, Brunei, Egypt, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, and Libya attended the meeting. Senior officials, including Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir, were also present.
