


The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm named 'Montha', according to a special weather notification signed by Bangladesh Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque on Monday morning (October 27th, 2025).
As of 3 PM on Monday, the storm was centered over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, located approximately:1360 km southwest of Chittagong seaport.1300 km southwest of Cox's Bazar seaport.1280 km southwest of Mongla port.1260 km southwest of Payra seaport.
Cyclonic storm Montha is expected to continue moving and intensify in a west-northwestward direction. It is projected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast of India by the evening or night of October 28th.
The maximum sustained wind speed near the cyclone center is reported at 54 km per hour, gusting up to 88 km per hour. Due to the very rough seas near the storm's center, all four maritime ports Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to lower the distant warning signal number one and hoist distant warning signal number two.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and not venture into the deep sea until further notice.
