Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman reaffirmed that multilateralism remains the cornerstone of Bangladesh’s foreign policy during a reception marking the country’s 56th Independence and National Day.
Speaking at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN on Thursday (March 26), Dr. Rahman highlighted the nation's steadfast commitment to global peace, security, and international cooperation.
Since joining the UN in 1974, Bangladesh has remained a top contributor to global peacekeeping operations.
The Minister emphasized Bangladesh's ongoing role in providing refuge and assistance to the Rohingya population.
Despite global challenges, the country has achieved significant progress over the last five decades by adhering to the principles of the UN Charter.
Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN, welcomed guests by describing March 26 as a symbol of the "eternal victory of the people's will, dignity, and freedom."
The event, attended by approximately 150 permanent representatives and senior UN officials, also featured a discussion session, messages from national leaders, and a documentary on the history of Bangladesh’s independence.
